Sony Ericsson Xperia

  The new gaming phone from Sony Ericsson, The Sony Ericsson Xperia was launched in early 2011. There has not been so buzz around a new phone since the original iPhone was first launched. this is not the first Android phone by Sony but it is the first phone to also act as a gaming console. at first glance it is a standard run of the mill touch phone but all changes once you slide the back of the phone across to reveal control buttons . As in one foul swoop the phone transforms into a mini psp. games can be downloaded from the internet and stored on the phone. this phone indeed opens up new possibilities for experiment. as everyone carries a phone with them but sitting on a bus or waiting at the doctors you can easily amuse yourself by playing your favourite game. but once your finished just slip it back into your pocket like any other phone.

First Gillette razor

There are very few products that are designed, that are revolutionary and that transforms the section of the market place that they are in. but the Gillette safety razor is indeed one such product.  this product was the first, the beginning, the big bang in mens shaving if you will. mens shaving first came around in the 1600″s with a straight open edge blade and nothing much had changed till the 1990″s. There was a type of shaver that had an enclosed blade but they had to be stropped daily and regularly sharpened. it was king camp Gillett who knew that what was needed was a thin, sharp, cheaply produced blade, therefore to create the disposable razor. although when he went about to make his newly invented razor he was met at every turn by manufacture who said no such blade could be made. but this didn’t stop until Gillette and finally found a man would attempt to  try and solve the problem,William Nickerson. the rest of the story is what they call history. Gillette  on to set up one of the largest and well known multinational company in the world.

sure modern razors are much more sleek and efficient than the original razor. but this was the first of its kind and was unlike anything that went before. exactly how many products can say that. It should be every designers aim to equal the feat of Gillette and design a product that is original solves the problem in its category.

Armadillo 161: cool piece of design or just plain pointless

Armadillo 161:

the Armadillo bracelet is a newly designed piece of jewelry by RogueDZN.the Armadillo 161 is made entirely of aerospace grade titanium and its name is Armadillo 161 is for the 161 parts that make up this bracelet. I will indeed admit that this is a very cool piece of jewelry and if I had one myself I would wear it because it looks kick ass. but really whats the point ?

when all is said and done the Armadillo 161 is just a bracelet not a necessary product that one would really need. what exactly is the reason for using aerospace grade titanium. . I’ll tell you, there is none it’s just that when someone who spends an obscene amount of money and guaranteed this bracelet will cost an obscene amount ( price has not been revealed yet).  he will got to his mate and show it off as proof to just how good he is doing in life the, the self indulging sod. But the worse thing is the knowing that a team of highly qualified skilled designers spent a lot of time and effort designing this product when that time and effort could ave been directed to greater matters in the world but then again the dollors always have the last say. . all i know is the next time i want a bracelet i’m going to TK MAX £5.99 . as for is it pointless or not just because its pretty doesn’t mean its useful.
